An Ado-Ekiti mini-truck driver, Adeleye/Adeleke Adeniyi, says he borrowed about N3.5 million to campaign for President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections. The claim is circulating in a video interview seen by multiple outlets, where he explains that he used the money to support the re-election efforts of Tinubu and additional candidates.

In the reports, Adeniyi—also described as trending online—attributes his decision to his assessment of the politicians’ performance in office, and he expresses optimism that a second term would bring further benefits. Nigerian Eye says he shows a Wema Bank cardboard cheque with a breakdown of N2 million for Tinubu, N1 million for Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, and N500,000 for Ekiti State House of Assembly member Steve Fatoba. Other outlets similarly focus on his disclosure and the loan amount, without adding as many specific financial details.

One outlet also notes past related activity: Adeniyi reportedly borrowed money via the digital lending platform OPay in February 2026 to brand a vehicle in support of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s second-term bid, where he again linked his support to government initiatives in areas such as healthcare, education and infrastructure.
