The Sandiganbayan hears testimonies from former security personnel and witnesses in connection with plunder charges against former House Speaker Martin Romualdez. Several accounts describe the alleged delivery of cash-filled suitcases to Romualdez’s home in Forbes Park, Makati City, along with claims that deliveries also occurred at other locations.
Across the reports, witnesses say suitcases containing large amounts of money were brought to Romualdez’s residence in multiple instances. One former aide described the delivery of 100 suitcases with about P1 billion in cash to Romualdez’s house between 2023 and 2024. Other witnesses also describe suitcase deliveries in four areas, and prosecutors present a short video clip allegedly showing suitcases inside the residence.
In addition, a witness account reported that remaining “maleta boys” were allegedly offered P10 million each to recant their statements. Romualdez denies wrongdoing. The testimonies and evidence are presented during bail proceedings tied to allegations that he received P7.44 billion in kickbacks purportedly linked to flood control projects.
