The Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) is referring an obstruction of justice complaint to the Department of Justice (DOJ) involving Sen. Robinhood “Robin” Padilla and five other individuals, linked to the early-morning May 14, 2026 “escape” of Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa from the Senate premises. CIDG director Maj. Gen. Robert Alexander Morico II says the CIDG has concluded that dela Rosa’s transport in Padilla’s vehicle was not an incidental “hitch ride,” but a coordinated and pre-planned logistical maneuver intended to avoid detection while leaving the Senate. CIDG also states that Padilla provided “indispensable cooperation” in helping dela Rosa leave early. The CIDG says it is looking into possible involvement of other vehicles near the Senate at the time of the departure, including a pick-up truck. CIDG officials confirm that the complaint is filed before the DOJ and that the referral is formally made on May 26. The allegations center on obstruction of justice in connection with the manner in which dela Rosa left the Senate before dawn on May 14.
