Authorities report that a woman in Sydney’s west is targeted in an alleged attempted abduction while she changes a tyre on the roadside. NSW Police say two men allegedly follow the woman in their car before she stops to replace the tyre. When she gets out, police allege one of the men threatens her at knifepoint and tries to pull her off the street and into a vehicle.

According to multiple outlets, bystanders intervene during the incident, preventing the alleged attempt from succeeding. The woman is not reported as being taken at the time of the intervention, and the reports focus on police accounts of the attempted snatching.

ABC Australia adds that the woman is 27 years old and describes the alleged offender’s attempt to drag her into an SUV. All reports attribute the claims to NSW Police and describe a similar sequence of events: following, roadside tyre change, alleged knife threat and attempt to drag the woman into a vehicle, and subsequent bystander action.
