Amazon is conducting a voluntary recall of more than 112,000 bottles of its store-brand extra-strength acetaminophen after consumers report that some tablets are discolored, according to the FDA and recall notices.
The recall covers Amazon Basic Care Extra Strength Acetaminophen 500mg caplets and includes three bottle sizes. Outlets report that the recall began last month and is tied to consumer complaints about discoloration of the pills rather than other identified issues.
While the outlets largely agree on the scope and cause—discolored tablets—they differ slightly in emphasis. One outlet frames the issue as affecting “acetaminophen” broadly sold through Amazon, while another specifies the Amazon Basic Care product line and the number of bottle sizes included.
