Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has revised and inaugurated its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election in Abuja, naming several non-APC politicians to coordinate the re-election effort. Reports say the appointments include Nyesom Wike (PDP) for Rivers, Chukwuma Soludo (APGA) for Anambra, and Ademola Adeleke (Accord Party) for Osun, alongside APC national leaders and federal lawmakers attending the inauguration. APC officials present the move as a broad, structured campaign with links beyond party lines.

APC figures including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele describe the council as a “rainbow coalition” reflecting inclusivity and national unity. APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda highlights the party’s organisational reach and claims strong executive numbers at ward level, as well as the presence of 31 governors in support. Other outlets also report that some opposition parties recognise or back the inclusion of the cross-party figures, while critics raise concerns from within parties such as the PDP and from APC stakeholders in states including Ebonyi.

Opposition leader Atiku Abubakar, meanwhile, reacts to the development by calling the campaign council a “confession of fear,” framing it as politically motivated.
