The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has announced a 155-member Campaign Advisory Council to guide preparations for the 2027 presidential and governorship elections. The council is chaired by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and includes prominent party figures such as former governors Ibrahim Shekarau and Abdullahi Ganduje, along with former military administrators Habibu Shuaibu, Lawan Jafaru-Isa and Yakubu Bako.
APC state chairman Umar Doguwa says the body will provide strategic direction for the party’s campaign efforts and oversee the operational 2027 Campaign Directorate, whose leadership and full composition are expected to be released later. Other members listed by outlets include Deputy President of the Senate Barau Jibrin, senators Kawu Sumaila and Rufa’i Hanga, as well as APC candidates and Kano members of the House of Representatives.
The announcements come as political parties ramp up for the 2027 polls. Coverage notes that the council follows the Independent National Electoral Commission’s publication of Kano governorship candidates, which includes Yusuf, while opposition parties have yet to announce comparable campaign councils. The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is also reported to be pursuing steps after Aminu Gwarzo’s omission from INEC’s list.
