Police in South Korea identify a suspect accused of carrying out a knife attack at a major commercial complex in Incheon earlier this week. The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency says the suspect is 59-year-old Choi Choong-rak and releases his name and mugshot after a panel unanimously approves public disclosure, citing the brutality of the crime, the harm caused and sufficient evidence. Police say his personal information will be posted online for a limited period.

The attack occurs on Tuesday at the commercial complex, about 30 kilometers west of Seoul. Officers say the suspect wields knives strapped to both hands and is suspected of trying to kill 10 people. Eight people are injured, including one victim who suffers cardiac arrest and remains unconscious at a hospital, while two others escape unharmed. Some reporting says business owners and bystanders subdue the attacker before police arrive. Police investigate the motive; one account says the suspect cites dissatisfaction with medical treatment.

Other outlets report the suspect attends an arrest warrant hearing as the case proceeds and confirm the core details of the incident, including the number of injuries, the location and the arrest by responding officers.
