Kwara State Police arrest four men in two separate cases involving alleged possession of human body parts. Police say the incidents include the alleged removal of human heads from graves in a cemetery at Omupo and the recovery of human hands from suspects stopped on Bakase Road in Alapa.
Police Commissioner Ojo Adekimi says investigators receive leads that the items were intended for money rituals. In the Omupo case, two suspects are arrested after allegedly digging graves and later confess to exhuming remains and removing a human head, while naming a herbalist as a potential buyer. In the Alapa case the same day, two other men are arrested after police recover two suspected human hands; interrogations indicate the suspects planned to use them for rituals and they mention a vigilante member as having supplied the items.
Police confirm the men are detained while investigations continue, including tracing the origin of the body parts and identifying possible victims. Authorities say suspects will be prosecuted after investigations are concluded.
