Specialty chemical startup Scimplify raises $25 million in a funding round led by Hitachi Ventures. Multiple outlets report the capital is intended to scale its semiconductor chemicals and critical materials business, including increasing production capacity and widening its manufacturing network.

The reports say Scimplify is using AI to support the development and production of critical materials, and that the company’s expansion targets are outside China to reduce reliance on Chinese supply. Business Line adds that Scimplify plans to build physical processing capabilities in the US while qualifying American manufacturing partners to support technology transfer, pilot production, and validation batches. The Next Web and TechCrunch also note the expansion footprint includes the US and Japan rather than Europe, with Henkel joining as an investor. TechCrunch further states Scimplify’s annualized revenue run rate has tripled to around $200 million as it pursues U.S. growth.
