Indian Railways is preparing to launch a Vande Bharat Sleeper service between Mumbai and Bengaluru after the Dussehra period, with multiple outlets reporting a start date around that timeframe. The proposed overnight route would run from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Bengaluru, cutting journey time to about 15–16 hours, compared with roughly 24 hours on existing services such as the Udyan Express. One report also points to a potential October launch for the Bengaluru–Mumbai variant.

Sources say the train is designed for semi-high-speed overnight travel and is expected to run on a busy Mumbai network without disrupting suburban local services. Railway officials are considering scheduling it to depart late in the evening and avoiding peak hours. Reported operational plans include speeds of up to around 160 km/h on the route, with the train capable of higher top speeds. Catering preparations are underway to reflect regional cuisines from Maharashtra and Karnataka, with talks involving IRCTC and partner chefs/kitchens.

While outlets agree on the route and approximate travel-time reduction, they differ on the exact launch window and some operational details such as frequency and final schedule, which have not been officially confirmed.
