Nyesom Wike, Nigeria’s Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), says APC presidential campaign figures should not claim victory in the 2027 election unless they deliver electoral wins in their respective states for President Bola Tinubu. Speaking in Abuja at the inauguration of the APC presidential campaign council, Wike argues that performance should be judged by votes delivered for Tinubu, not by roles or titles within the campaign structure.

Wike, who says he is assigned to coordinate the campaign in Rivers State and the FCT, pledges to help ensure both areas vote “massively” for Tinubu. He also cites Lagos State as an example, saying Tinubu’s aides and officials should not celebrate a re-election if the ruling party fails to win Lagos.

Across the reports, Wike also frames his remarks as separate from partisan loyalty. He says opposition politicians can point out shortcomings of the ruling party, but should still acknowledge achievements. He further defends Tinubu’s leadership by referencing the proposed establishment of state police as an initiative he says previous administrations recognised but did not fully advance.
