OpenAI’s computing chief, Sachin Katti, is expected to step down from his infrastructure-focused role as the company expands its technology investments. Quartz and CNBC report that Katti joined OpenAI in late 2025 and is slated to leave the role while continuing in an advisory capacity.
According to the outlets, Katti says he has decided to “move on to build something new.” CNBC reports that his departure coincides with leadership and strategy changes within OpenAI’s infrastructure operations, with Uday Ruddarraju taking over strategy. The Wall Street Journal adds that OpenAI’s infrastructure unit has seen multiple leadership shifts as the company increases its investment pace, pointing to an ongoing reorganization tied to a broader infrastructure push, reported at around $750 billion.
