Universal Music Group is completing a restructuring plan and top executives at several major labels are leaving the company. Reports from multiple outlets say the changes include departures at Def Jam, Republic Records and Interscope, as Universal finalizes a strategy aimed at reducing costs.
The Los Angeles Times reports the plan is designed to save about €250 million (roughly $270 million) per year. The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard name several senior figures among those exiting, including Def Jam CEO Tunji Balogun and Republic Records executive Jim Roppo, alongside other label leadership. Billboard also cites additional exits involving Polydor and Interscope executives, reflecting a broader shake-up rather than limited changes at a single label.
While the outlets agree on the overall restructuring and the involvement of multiple labels, they differ in the specific leadership names emphasized and the extent of which roles are listed, suggesting partial differences in what each outlet has independently confirmed.
