A married 38-year-old woman in Maharashtra is alleged to have been killed by her lover, who reportedly hit her on the head and burned her body with a room heater. Police say the dispute escalates into violence during her husband’s absence, and the victim’s death is initially mistaken for an electric shock.
According to reports, the accused, Javed Sheikh Shahid Manyar, is 33 and lives in Raver tehsil in Jalgaon district. He works as an air-conditioner technician in Nagpur. The woman and Javed reportedly knew each other for around 15 years and had a long relationship; police say she had been asking him to marry her despite his existing marriage, leading to frequent arguments.
Police say the incident comes to light when the woman’s daughters return home and discover her. Police arrested Javed in Jalgaon and remanded him in custody. Outlets differ slightly on details such as the timing of events and whether the woman’s name is withheld, but all describe the alleged assault, the use of a room heater, and the marriage dispute as central to the case.
