CD Projekt Red has officially announced “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” third expansion, titled “Songs of the Past.” The expansion is centered on Geralt returning for another story set in the game’s world, with multiple outlets noting it is releasing more than a decade after the original game’s launch and over a decade since the earlier major expansion “Blood and Wine.” Sources report that “Songs of the Past” is planned for release in 2027 on PC and current-generation consoles, including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. CD Projekt Red also confirms the DLC is intended to feel “familiar” to players who enjoyed “Blood and Wine,” suggesting it will follow the structure and tone of that earlier expansion.
Several outlets also say CD Projekt Red originally planned to launch “Songs of the Past” in 2026/this year, but delayed it to 2027 to deliver “the best possible result.” Outside of publisher updates, at least one outlet notes that members of the modding community are working on restoring a large cut questline, in anticipation of the new expansion.
