India’s auto market grows in September, with overall sales increasing year-on-year, according to SIAM data cited by multiple outlets. NDTV reports that total auto sales rise 14.7% in September, driven primarily by stronger demand for passenger vehicles and two-wheelers.

Passenger vehicle sales grow at a faster pace than other major segments. NDTV says passenger vehicle sales increase 23% year-on-year to 3,85,764 units, up from 3,13,680 units a year earlier. Business Line - Home similarly cites SIAM figures showing passenger vehicle dispatches rising 21.8%, to 4.54 lakh units in September.

Two-wheeler demand also remains firm. NDTV reports two-wheeler sales climb 13.5% to 24,63,103 units from 21,70,100 units a year earlier. Business Line - Home shows broadly consistent figures, stating total two-wheeler sales rise 13.5% to about 24.63 lakh units.

Different outlets highlight slightly different aggregate growth rates and whether they refer to “sales” or “dispatches,” but they align on the same direction: passenger vehicles lead growth, followed by two-wheelers.
