An Albanian woman, Qamile Marra, is reported to be 117 years old and is being discussed as a possible candidate for the world’s oldest woman. She tells AFP she is not focused on proving her status or persuading pension officials of her age, and instead says she is concentrating on enjoying life.

Born under Ottoman rule, Marra turned 36 about two weeks before the end of World War II and has lived through major changes in Albania, including its communist period and its later transition. In interviews, she compares life to Mount Tomorr, a prominent peak near where she lives outside Ferras, roughly 100 kilometres south of Tirana.

Across the outlets, the emphasis is consistent: Marra’s age and longevity are the central facts, while details about verification and formal recognition are mentioned only in general terms. Differences are limited to how much background and phrasing each outlet uses, with all referencing her reported age and her stated attitude toward claims of being the oldest.
