Activision chief marketing officer Tyler Bahl says Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto VI and Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 are the two biggest games of the year, adding that their launches will attract more players overall. In interviews, he argues the attention around major releases tends to benefit multiple publishers, rather than only the title drawing the most headlines.

Bahl’s comments include a remark about Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2, which launches on November 5. While some outlets frame GTA VI as likely to dominate the market, Bahl says a broader audience “coming in to the dashboards” and increased gaming interest can also lift Call of Duty. He also highlights what he sees as a key appeal of Call of Duty—playing and spending time with friends.

Other industry perspectives mentioned alongside the comments point to a similar “rising tide” effect, with Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot previously saying a major release like GTA 6 can help the wider sector. Dates cited by outlets place Modern Warfare 4’s general release on October 23, followed by GTA VI’s release on November 19.
