Google is rolling out an update to Android’s earthquake alerts feature, adding more details to the alerts and expanding availability to more than 200 countries and regions worldwide. The updates increase the geographic coverage beyond what was previously supported.

Outlet reports say the feature was previously available in just under 100 areas, and this week’s rollout more than doubles that number to over 200. Google highlights some newly included regions such as Panama and Guatemala, though the expansion applies broadly across many additional global areas.

Across the sources, the shared focus is on two changes: richer alert content and wider international reach. The coverage expansion is presented as the primary update, while the “more information” in alerts is described as an accompanying improvement to how the alerts are displayed to users.
