Accenture is reducing central funding for employee use of Anthropic’s Claude AI, setting a cap of $29 per person per month effective October 1, according to an internal memo reported by 404 Media. The memo says any Claude Enterprise usage above the cap must be charged to specific project budgets.

Outlets report that some employees had been spending around $1,000 per month on Claude, including via Claude Code, and are now seeking alternative ways to continue using the tools. India Today similarly describes the internal cap and the prior high spend by some staff.

The decision follows broader efforts by large tech companies to limit “tokenmaxxing”—excessive use that drives up costs for AI services. Accenture joins other firms, including Microsoft and Meta, that have moved to curb rapidly increasing AI expenses.
