A video circulating online shows Jammu and Kashmir IAS officer Kumar Rajeev Ranjan allegedly using abusive language against a female colleague, sparking public outrage and demands for action. The clip reportedly captures the officer shouting during a virtual review meeting, identified by outlets as relating to the Mission YUVA programme.

The woman officer in the video is identified as Beenish Wani, a JKAS officer and Assistant Director in the Employment Department. She says the incident occurred during the meeting and maintains the video was neither edited nor produced using AI. She also states she attended the meeting virtually while on leave due to a foot fracture. Ranjan, while expressing regret over his remarks, says the exchange occurred in the heat of the moment and argues Wani provoked him, adding that the full meeting context should be considered.

The Jammu and Kashmir Labour and Employment Department responds by emphasizing professional decorum and mutual respect and says clips shared online appear selectively edited and unverified. Political figures and others condemn the alleged conduct and call for a formal inquiry, including concerns about intimidation and workplace treatment.
