A 22-year-old IT employee in Pune, Shikhar Saxena, dies after jumping from a high-rise residential building on October 1, reports say. The family had earlier reported him missing after receiving threatening calls. Saxena is taken to Sassoon General Hospital, where doctors declare him dead.

In their complaint, Saxena’s father alleges that an unidentified man repeatedly threatened his son with a fake drug-trafficking case and mentally harassed him, including by posing as a police official and later making calls that sought information about his whereabouts. The father also suspects cyber extortion, pointing to alleged WhatsApp communications, suspicious screenshots, and money transfers dated September 29, as well as a later call on October 13 from someone claiming to be from a courier office.

Across outlets, the central allegations are consistent: the threats relate to an alleged fake drug case, and the family suspects online fraudsters demanded money or tried to implicate Saxena. Police register a case and investigate the circumstances of the death, including the mobile numbers and bank accounts linked to the complaint, with further verification of the claims still pending.
