Indian stock markets close lower for a second consecutive session as selling pressure in oil & gas and banking-linked stocks weighs on sentiment. Trading remains volatile amid cautious positioning by investors, with market participants citing mixed geopolitical signals from West Asia and additional foreign fund outflows.

On the BSE, the 30-share Sensex falls about 142 points (roughly 0.19%) to close at 75,867.80. The index moves between an intraday high of 76,224.68 and a low of 75,748.21. On the NSE, the Nifty slips slightly by about 6.55 points (around 0.03%) to end at 23,907.15. The Sensex had already fallen on the previous day, while the Nifty also declined.

Sector performance is mixed: financials, oil & gas, IT, and private banking are among the main drags. At the same time, some groups advance, including energy-related and metals-linked segments, as well as parts of the auto and utilities space. In the broader Sensex constituents, HDFC Bank declines the most, while several other large names such as Infosys, ITC, Hindustan Unilever, Reliance Industries and ICICI Bank also finish lower.
