Nigeria’s governing All Progressives Congress (APC) publishes a national campaign timetable for the 2027 general election, listing dates and states it says are part of its planned nationwide mobilisation. Multiple outlets report that President Bola Tinubu is expected to be physically present for rallies in 12 states, with the campaign beginning in Kaduna on 24 October 2026 and ending with a grand finale in Lagos on 9 January 2027. Other reports also provide lists of the specific states and cities where Tinubu may appear.

APC officials frame Tinubu’s limited travel as consistent with governing priorities. APC campaign spokesperson Obafemi George says Tinubu has been campaigning for years and that he does not need to visit every state. Vanguard also reports that Tinubu said he will not be in some states, with Kaduna, Oyo and Rivers among those mentioned in coverage of the 12-state list. Premium Times includes a campaign spokesperson’s argument for re-electing Tinubu, citing major economic measures such as petrol subsidy removal and foreign-exchange market unification.

Opposition figures challenge the campaign plan. Nigerian Eye reports claims by Kenneth Okonkwo of the African Democratic Congress that Tinubu’s health is questionable and calls for him to step down, echoing similar sentiments reported by Punch, where Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s campaign asks Tinubu to withdraw if he cannot campaign across the country. Separately, Vanguard reports APC support groups holding rallies to mobilise backing in the Southeast.
