Valve is rolling out a new beta feature for Steam achievements called “Achievement Sets.” The system lets developers group achievements into separate buckets, helping organize games where achievement lists grow over time due to updates and downloadable content.
In games that support sets, players still unlock achievements normally through gameplay. Afterward, Steam presents the unlocked achievements in set-specific views, allowing users to see what they have completed in the base game versus what belongs to DLC or other developer-defined collections. Outlets describe the feature as a response to “perpetually growing” achievement lists, which can make it harder for completionists to track progress toward 100% completion.
Reporting across the sources focuses on how developers control the grouping and how Steam displays achievements by set rather than showing a single undifferentiated list. Valve’s goal, as characterized by the coverage, is to make achievement browsing clearer and more actionable for players, especially when titles add new content.
