A Severn Trent-owned water and sewage company, Hafren Dyfrdwy, is ordered to pay £280,000 after failures that lead to sewage spills. Reporting across outlets says the payment is linked to performance shortcomings regarded as unacceptable.
Hafren Dyfrdwy provides water and sewage services to about 109,000 customers in north-east and mid-Wales. WalesOnline adds that, alongside regulatory action over the spills, the firm is also permitted to increase customers’ bills. It reports an average rise of £54 (9%) for the 2026–27 financial year to a stated average annual bill of £635.
The outlets broadly agree on the company, the payment amount, and the nature of the issue—sewage spill failures—while placing different emphasis on the customer impact of bill changes versus the enforcement outcome.
