Nigeria’s Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi risks losing political capital before the 2027 general election if he does not demonstrate ideological consistency and stronger organisation. APC spokesman Seye Oladejo argues that Obi’s 2023 campaign harnessed public frustration, youth mobilisation and social-media energy, but that such “momentum” is not guaranteed to translate into lasting national political depth.
The APC also points to Obi’s repeated party realignments and asks for clearer policy positions on issues such as inflation, unemployment, debt and energy. It urges the “Obidient Movement” to evolve from protest and mobilisation into a durable policy platform with grassroots structures.
Other coverage adds criticism from Arise Television presenter Rufai Oseni, who says Obi is not sufficiently visible and has allegedly delivered inconsistent messages, including on the petrol subsidy debate. Oseni also raises concerns about alleged disagreements or lack of trust between Obi’s movement and the NDC leadership. The outlets collectively frame opposition preparedness and internal cohesion as key questions heading into 2027, even as PDP figures describe Obi as a potentially serious challenger to President Bola Tinubu.
