Ohope Wins, the New Zealand mare, is euthanased after being brought down in a fall during the Caulfield Cup. Reports say the incident happens in the straight near the finish line, with the mare injured following the race’s dramatic developments.
The fall also brings down Half Yours, the 2025 Melbourne Cup winner. One outlet notes that Ohope Wins previously had recognition at the highest level of racing, while another includes a broader result context, stating Kingswood wins the $6 million Caulfield Cup. Chris Waller Racing publishes a tribute following Ohope Wins’ death, describing her as a standout performer. Across coverage, the accounts focus on the same core facts: the Caulfield Cup fall, Half Yours being involved, and Ohope Wins’ subsequent euthanasia.
