SoFi Technologies expands access to its bank-issued stablecoin, SoFiUSD, by making it available to all its banking members. Multiple outlets report that customers can use the stablecoin through the SoFi app to buy, sell, hold, and convert SoFiUSD directly. SoFiUSD is described as a U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin issued by the bank. PYMNTS.com reports that the rollout begins for members starting Wednesday, with full availability expected in early June as customers update to the latest version of the SoFi app. American Banker similarly states that SoFi launches the native stablecoin to all its banking customers on Wednesday. American Banker also notes that SoFi plans to introduce tokenized deposits in the near future, following the stablecoin launch. Taken together, the reports indicate that the stablecoin is being integrated into SoFi’s existing app experience for eligible members, with a phased onboarding period tied to app updates and a subsequent plan to extend tokenization features to deposits.
