President Lee Jae Myung’s approval rating rises after a two-week drop, according to a poll released Monday. The survey by Realmeter finds Lee’s positive job assessment at 37.3%, up 2.1 percentage points from the prior week, while negative assessments fall 1 point to 60.4%. The poll is based on responses from 2,520 adults nationwide interviewed between last Monday and Friday.

Realmeter attributes the rebound to policies focused on improving livelihoods, including housing and jobs, as well as government efforts to address violent crime after a stabbing spree in Incheon, west of Seoul. The pollster also notes that a sharp stock market decline later in the week may have weighed on Lee’s rating, contributing to a more mixed overall environment.

In a separate survey of 1,005 adults conducted between Thursday and Friday, support for the ruling Democratic Party of Korea increases slightly to 36.2% (+0.7 points). Support for the main opposition People Power Party declines to 40.9% (-0.4 points). Both results are presented with a margin of error of about 2 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
