Netflix’s basketball comedy “Running Point” is adding Mindy Kaling to its cast for Season 3. Multiple outlets report that Kaling, who is also a co-creator and executive producer of the series, will step in front of the camera in a recurring role.
Kaling is set to portray Divya, described as an outspoken, confident CEO of a popular gambling app. The casting follows other on-screen additions from the show’s creative team, with one outlet noting that Ike Barinholtz had a recurring stint as cousin Benny in Season 2.
The Hollywood Reporter adds that “Running Point” returns to production in September, placing Kaling’s involvement within the show’s ongoing Season 3 production timeline. TVLine and Deadline both frame the news as casting information for the upcoming season, with Deadline providing additional character description details.
