Saudi-led forces say they intercepted and destroyed drones launched by Yemen’s Houthis over Saudi Arabia, including the Mecca region and later areas around Riyadh. The Jerusalem Post reports that a drone was intercepted and destroyed over Mecca, with no immediate comment from the Houthis.
Other outlets also frame the reports around coalition announcements. Middle East Eye says the coalition intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone over Mecca, while it later reports three drones intercepted and destroyed over the Riyadh region and southern Saudi Arabia. The Express Tribune similarly focuses on coalition claims of interceptions, adding that the reported attacks follow the destruction of three drones in earlier incidents over the Riyadh region and southern Saudi Arabia.
