Apple is set to significantly update Siri for iOS 27 (and related Apple platforms), reshaping it into a more chatbot-like AI assistant. Multiple outlets, including Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, describe Siri as moving toward two-way, conversational interactions similar to services such as ChatGPT or Claude, with a system-level integration across iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Apple is also introducing a standalone Siri app for the first time, giving users a dedicated interface to type or speak prompts and continue conversations, including the ability to attach files like images and PDFs.

Sources also say Siri responses can draw on personal context stored on the device, with access to information such as emails, messages, photos, calendar entries, contacts, and notes, alongside capabilities like summarizing, generating content, and searching the web. In addition, Siri chats sync across devices via iCloud.

Privacy controls are expected to include options for automatic deletion of chat history on schedules such as 30 days, a year, or never. Finally, Bloomberg reporting suggests Apple may initially label the revamped Siri internally as “beta” or “preview,” and it could gate some features behind a waitlist at initial release. Apple’s updates are expected to be detailed at WWDC 2026 beginning June 8.
