Typhoon Domeng (international name: Jangmi) intensifies over the Philippine Sea and remains a typhoon while inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), according to PAGASA updates cited by multiple outlets. PAGASA reports that the cyclone moves generally north-northwestward across the Philippine Sea, gradually strengthening at times as it tracks toward higher latitudes. On Saturday into Sunday, PAGASA says Domeng could reach typhoon category as it maintains or increases its wind speeds, with gusts reported in some bulletins. While inside the PAR, PAGASA also says Domeng is less likely to make landfall in the Philippines and does not prompt any wind signal across the country in the period covered by the reports.
In the final tracking reported, Domeng exits the PAR on Monday morning, with PAGASA stating it leaves around 11:30 a.m. as it is located northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. For the remaining forecast period after exiting, PAGASA indicates the typhoon recurs toward southern Japan. During the earlier tropical-storm phase, PAGASA also warns mainly about possible indirect effects, including enhanced southwesterly winds that can bring rain to parts of the country.
