A group of Labour MPs in the West Midlands writes to the leader of Reform UK in the borough, urging the party to suspend an election candidate over allegations relating to social media comments. The candidate, identified as Stuart Prior, is standing for Reform in Essex and for council seats in Rayleigh West, Sweyne Park and Grange, according to reports.
A joint investigation by the Mirror and the anti-racism campaign group Hope Not Hate alleges Prior made racist and dehumanizing remarks in posts made over recent months. The allegations include statements describing white people as a “master race” and calling Muslim people “rats.” The reports also say Prior responded to news of two separate attacks involving Sikh women by posting a comment described as celebrating their rape, including the phrase “good, reap it.”
The Canary reports investigators confronted Prior with the alleged comments. The Labour MPs’ letters call for suspension while the matter is addressed, but the sources do not set out the party’s response or any formal outcome at the time of publication.
