President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali launches “Cricket in the Streets,” a nationwide grassroots programme in Guyana aimed at identifying young cricket talent in communities and creating pathways for their development. Both reports say the initiative is rolled out across Guyana and is intended to strengthen opportunities for emerging players at the community level.
The programme is presented as a collaboration involving the government, E-Networks and ExxonMobil Guyana’s Global Super League (GSL). It is reported to use community-based facilities, including cage pitches being established in neighbourhoods, to support regular play and talent discovery. The initiative is described as a structured effort to develop cricket participation by bringing the sport to the streets and then linking promising players to broader development opportunities.
Both sources agree it is launched on Friday by President Ali and that its central focus is grassroots identification and development, using partnerships between public institutions and cricket-related stakeholders.
