Cardano’s planned 2026 summit is canceled after a community vote rejects a proposal to fund the event through the Cardano Foundation’s treasury. Both outlets report that the Foundation’s flagship conference was contingent on approval under the network’s newer governance rules, which require a two-thirds supermajority. The funding measure does not reach the threshold and fails by a narrow margin, with results reported at about 65% support rather than the required two-thirds. CoinDesk and The Block both note that the proposal falls short despite late public endorsements. The Block adds that late endorsements come from Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson and the Foundation’s CEO, but these do not change the outcome enough to pass the vote. As a result, the Foundation cancels the 2026 summit following the unsuccessful funding approval under the governance system.
