Chelsea confirm the signing of Republic of Ireland captain Katie McCabe following her departure from Arsenal. Multiple reports say the move is timed to her Arsenal contract expiring on 1 July, with Chelsea set to bring her in as a free agent from the Women’s Super League rivals.
The Guardian and other outlets report that McCabe, a left-back, has signed a deal with Chelsea running to 2029, with an option for a further year. McCabe previously announced her exit after spending 11 years with Arsenal, making 305 appearances and scoring 36 goals. She has won major honours with Arsenal, including the Women’s Champions League, FA Cup and Women’s Super League, and added the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup in February.
