A fire breaks out on the second floor of the Ministry of Education office within the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) campus in Delhi’s ITO area, according to officials cited by multiple outlets. The Delhi Fire Service receives a call about the blaze at around 9:37 am and dispatches eight firefighting vehicles to the site. Reports say the fire is brought under control, and no injuries or fatalities are reported.
Politically, Congress raises concerns over the incident. Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh says the news of a fire at the education ministry offices is “very concerning” and describes it as “very fishy,” posting the remarks on X.
The Ministry of Education dismisses the claim of wrongdoing linked to the opposition’s comments, with reporting indicating that the cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained by authorities. At present, investigations are ongoing to determine how the fire started and what factors contributed to it.
