Reports say Apple is planning a new iOS 27 feature that streamlines splitting bills among friends and family. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that the upcoming capability will let users take a photo of a receipt and automatically generate payment requests for different people. The feature is described as being tied to Apple Cash, Apple’s peer-to-peer payments service in the Wallet app, which supports sending money and making purchases.

The bill-splitting tools are reported to be available through both the Wallet and Messages apps. Users are also expected to be able to approve payments using an Apple Watch. Apple Cash availability is currently limited to the United States, and the new feature is expected to follow that scope.

Multiple outlets report that Apple plans to announce the feature as early as next week at WWDC, with it included in the iOS 27 release. Separate coverage also indicates iOS 27 will include other Wallet-related updates, including the ability for users to create digital passes by scanning items such as tickets and membership cards.
