A dog swept off rocks on the New South Wales south coast ends up stranded at sea and is later rescued after swimming to a nearby island. Reports say radio operators in Batemans Bay receive an unusual call about a distressed dog in the water. Marine Rescue NSW volunteers respond, with local unit commander Rod Ingamells among the first to reach the area. By the time rescuers arrive, the animal has already swum nearly 800 metres across the bay to Snapper Island in Batemans Bay, according to one account.
