Multiple outlets report that more than a dozen depot upgrade projects are behind schedule, affecting the state government’s plan to introduce a large batch of electric buses over the next two years.
The reporting says the storage of new buses is driven by the lack of readiness at depot sites needed to support electric operations, including the infrastructure required for charging and other servicing arrangements. This creates a mismatch between when vehicles arrive and when facilities are able to accommodate them.
The delays complicate the timetable for deploying more than 1,200 electric buses.
