The US Central Command (CENTCOM) says it defeats several Iranian missile and drone attacks aimed toward countries in the region and reports that no attacks hit their intended targets. According to CENTCOM, the strikes are part of a broader set of ballistic missile and drone launches launched by Iran toward regional neighbours, but all attempts fail. CENTCOM also states it carries out defensive actions, including strikes connected to an Iranian military facility on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM denies Iranian claims that US military bases in Bahrain and elsewhere in the region were hit, saying these reports are not accurate and that the attacks failed.
The reports come while a US-Iran ceasefire is described as being in place since April 8. The outlets covering the event primarily relay CENTCOM’s account and its denial of Iranian statements, without independently confirming the claims about targets struck or the origin and outcomes of all components of the attacks.
