India’s Fairwood Nuclear Pvt Ltd and South Korea’s SK Securities Co Ltd sign a collaboration agreement to advance small nuclear reactor projects in India, including small modular reactors (SMRs) and micro modular reactors (MMRs), the companies say. The cooperation is aimed at accelerating both commercial and technical development of advanced nuclear projects as demand grows for low-carbon and energy-secure power options.
Under the agreement, the firms plan to work on project development and related engagement activities, including identifying potential strategic partners, reaching out to institutional and private investors, and supporting investor fundraising efforts. The Hindu describes the arrangement as a non-exclusive framework for locating partnerships and linking projects to capital and technology ecosystems. Business Standard adds that the partnership is expected to draw on SK Securities’ networks across nuclear, infrastructure and financial sectors in South Korea and other international markets.
The pact focuses on enabling financing and industry and investor engagement for future reactor developments in India; it does not, in the coverage provided, specify particular sites, reactor capacities, or project timelines.
