On Wednesday, the Israeli military says it intercepts multiple threats crossing from Lebanon into northern Israel. In one incident, Israel says it intercepted a “hostile aircraft” that entered Israeli airspace from Lebanon. Israel does not attribute the aircraft to Hezbollah, and Hezbollah has not claimed responsibility. In separate reports, Israel also says it intercepted two projectiles, and later three projectiles, fired from Lebanon. The military states that some of the projectiles are intercepted before reaching Israeli territory, while at least one falls near Israeli soldiers. No injuries are reported. In the incident involving projectiles, the military says the munitions target Israeli forces in Lebanon’s south.
The developments come amid a partial ceasefire announced by Lebanon involving Hezbollah and Israel. Lebanon’s embassy in Washington says the arrangement would see Israel halt strikes on Beirut’s Hezbollah-controlled suburbs and Hezbollah stop attacks on Israel, while not ending the broader conflict. Hezbollah declines to comment on the incidents, according to one report.
