Labour MP Jess Asato, who represents Lowestoft in Suffolk, is suing Elon Musk’s AI company xAI for damages, saying the Grok chatbot was used to create fake sexualised images of her without her consent. Multiple outlets report that Asato previously criticised the creation and sharing of the images, describing it as “violating” to see herself portrayed in a bikini through AI. The BBC and Sky News specifically report her claim that Grok was the tool involved in generating the images.

Coverage also links the case to wider concerns about AI-generated deepfakes and non-consensual sexualised material that circulated on X earlier this year. The Guardian reports that Asato’s legal action is being treated as a test case and that other complainants have contacted her lawyer after hearing about her lawsuit.
