Samsung Electronics America is moving its U.S. headquarters from Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, to its existing campus in Plano, Texas, according to multiple reports. The decision comes less than a year after Samsung opened a new headquarters in Bergen County, and the company says the move is part of a broader business transformation intended to position the organization for long-term growth.
New Jersey outlets report that the relocation could affect roughly 1,000 employees, with workers facing choices including relocating to Texas or potentially losing their jobs. Samsung’s statement also says the company will “optimiz[e]” roles and functions so they align with key business priorities. The company says it recognizes the adjustments will affect employees and that it will provide support to those affected.
Reports say the company expects to complete the relocation by the end of the year, and it states the move builds on its 30-year presence in New Jersey.
