Iran’s Revolutionary Guards deny responsibility for an attack on Kuwait’s international airport that officials said killed one Indian national and injured 63 people. In a statement shared via the Guards’ official Telegram channel, spokesman Hossein Mohebi says the Guards’ investigation finds that the IRGC Air Force did not fire at the airport passenger terminal. He also attributes damage to what he calls an error involving American Patriot air-defense systems, saying a Patriot unit “landed on the terminal” after failing to intercept Iranian missiles.
Other reporting says Kuwait’s Ministry of Defence described the incident as “heinous Iranian aggression,” stating that 30 ballistic missiles and drones were launched, causing significant material damage. Kuwait’s defence ministry says the attack was aimed at Ali Al Salem Air Base, which hosts helicopters, rather than the civilian terminal.
The airport’s operations were temporarily halted after the strike, but air traffic later resumed and Kuwait Airways flights resumed. Kuwait’s health ministry said 63 people were treated for injuries including head wounds and amputations. The Indian foreign ministry confirmed the death of one citizen and urged parties to stop attacks on civilian targets.
