Bloomberg reports that images appear to show construction activity in Kim Il Sung Square, a central Pyongyang location that has previously been used as a focal point for visits by foreign leaders. Bloomberg says the development coincides with public discussion that Xi could make his first trip to North Korea in more than six years.
The Japan Times also points to satellite data dated May 30 from satellite firm Vantor, describing a fenced-off area and construction of a structure in the square. Both outlets link the apparent preparations at the site to the possibility of a high-level diplomatic event, though neither source confirms that a visit is planned or that the construction is directly related to Xi.
